Every new Kontext organization starts on a 30-day trial of the Growth plan, with no payment method required up front. You get full read and write access while you decide whether Kontext is for you, and usage counters run as they would on a paid subscription so you can test against real workloads.

Picking your paid plan

At any time during the trial, go to Organization Settings → Billing. From there you can add a payment method and pick which plan you want to continue on, along with monthly or annual billing (you can change cadence later, subject to the cadence rules). Three paths, each behaves differently. Keep Growth. Add a payment method and that’s it. The trial runs its full 30 days, and the first Growth invoice charges on day 30. Pick Starter (smaller than the trial plan). Add a payment method and switch the plan to Starter. Your trial still runs the full 30 days on Growth’s entitlements, and Starter activates when the trial ends with its first invoice. This is the right choice if you only need Starter long-term but want to exploit Growth’s higher caps while the trial lasts. Pick Business (larger than the trial plan). Add a payment method and switch the plan to Business. The trial ends immediately. Your card is charged pro-rata for the rest of the current period, Business’s entitlements take effect today, and your new billing anniversary becomes today. Take this path if you’ve validated Kontext and want Business-only features (custom roles, enforced MFA, audit logs) live right away rather than waiting out the trial.

What happens on day 30

On the morning of day 31, Kontext checks whether your organization has a payment method. If you added one during the trial (any of the three paths above), the first invoice charges automatically on your selected plan, and you continue without interruption. If you didn’t add one, your subscription pauses. Ingestion and writes are gated, but nothing is deleted, so your data stays as it was. To reactivate, go to Organization Settings → Billing, add a payment method, and pick a plan. A fresh billing cycle starts the moment you reactivate.

FAQ

Can I reset or extend the trial? A trial runs once per organization, so there’s no self-serve reset. Contact us if you need an extension. Do overages work during the trial? No. You’re bounded by Growth’s included cap (10,000 feedback items) and the universal hard cap (20,000). Beyond the hard cap, ingestion stops until you convert. See Usage & overages. Can I downgrade to Starter after the trial converts to Growth? Yes, it’s a normal downgrade scheduled to the end of your first Growth billing period. See Plan changes.
